Dead,
but not gone...
I'm
sorry, I lied.
I promised that I'd look after you forever,
But then I died.
And although a cruel twist of fate stole me from your side,
Believe me, I tried.
So
if now I'm gone, from your eye you should shed a tear,
Please try not to let the sorrow and grief last all year.
For
my body died, not me.
And from that humble frame of bone, blood and flesh,
My spirit has been set free.
And
now?
And
now I am in every breath of wind that kisses your face,
And in every flower and tree that graces this place.
I am the ray of sunshine that wakes you from your sleep,
And I am in every drop of rain that falls to the ground and splashes
at your feet.
So
if you feel someone close and look up and nobody is there,
Don't worry; it's just me for I am the air.
They
can bury my body, but not my love under the grass so green,
And although taken away from you, I can still visit when you dream.
So
if you're alone, and need comfort, close your eyes and reach out
for my hand.
I will always be there for you in spirit, my love an unbreakable
band.
